Province Pairs

Congratulations to the Athelstaneford Team who continue their dominance of this event having won the High Road 5 times in the last 9 years !  This years team came up against Aberlady's David Wyllie and David McKay for the second time in the afternoon, having peeled with them in the qualifying games.  Experience showed in the final and Johnny Shedden and Frank Ross eased out 3 - 1 winners.

In the Low Road, the final was contested by East Linton's Robin Aitken and Paul Neilson and Haddington's Andy MacDiarmid and Hamish Logan.  Haddington managed to snatch a 2 in the final end and ran out 3 - 2 winners to Retain the Low Road. 

The Gauntlet Challenge

In the inaugural Gauntlet Challenge, Athelstaneford challenged Aberlady.  It was a fun and informal game with lots of laughs and the Aberlady team of  Julia Mackey, John McOmish, John Good and Gavin Morton ran out the winners.

It is now up to us Aberlady to challenge another East Lothian club within the next four weeks.

Season 24/25 Fixtures and Updates

The new season is nearly upon us:-

Dates/ Times and Draws of all our Province competitions have now been added to the website along with details of 'other competitions' where the information is known.  Dates can be found above and draws can be found on the "Fixtures" tab.

Reminder that the Province would like to know the names of any players wishing to be included for the  Waldie Griffiths, The "Chanty" Borders Challenge, the Edinburgh Area Bonspiel and the Incoming Swiss Tour games.  Please contact Keith Anderson.

At Murrayfield there have been some minor changes to the looks of the club rooms, to reduce the noise levels.  Also this season the Bar and Catering will be provided by Embo Deli instead of Parsley and Thyme.  After 10 years, Paul was finding it difficult to obtain staffing for all his activities.

AGM - Dates (Confirmed)

Our AGM will be held at the Glen Golf Club on the 12th June 2024 at 19.30.

     

 

Waldie Griffiths

Unfortunately we were unable to retain our title.  Despite beating Angus Province 29 shots to 18 (+11) we were still some way behind the winning margin that our 'Auld Enemy' Border Province (+14) were against Breadalbane (The team that we defeated on our way to the title last season)

Knockout - Finals

Congratulations to all the teams that took part in the Knockout Competition.  ALL the games were close ones (except maybe the final).  Biggest congratulations of all go to our winners, Athelstaneford , Skipped by Johnny Shedden and assisted by Douglas Scott, Frank Ross and Roy Black.

Province Bonspiel - Winners

Congratulations to the Dirleton Team of Calum Harvey, Shelagh Main, B Anderson and Graham Elder who took the Bonspiel title with an overall score of +7.  Runners up were Aberlady, two shots behind on +5

Dirleton have now won the Bonspiel on 15 occasions and now tie in second place with Athelstaneford for overall wins.

Province Knockout - Rnd 1

 Congratulations to Dirleton and Yester who progress to play each other in the Semi-Final on 18th Feb 2024.  The other Semi is between Aberlady and Athelstanefoord.
